Home offices, multi-purpose rooms, gyms, and theaters are becoming more popular, and some families are finding the space they need for these upgrades in the luxury market.<span id=\"more-43109\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The<em> Institute for Luxury Home Marketing<\/em> (ILHM) <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.luxuryhomemarketing.com\/september-luxury-market-report-summary-luxury-buyer-trends-for-fall-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">explains<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cWith quarantine concerns still top of mind for many luxury buyers, we see large, sprawling estates making their comeback.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For instance, the last six months have seen a resurgence in the buying of mega mansions and estate-size homes \u2013 specifically properties that offer space (both inside and outside), separate home offices, gyms, and private amenities such as swimming pools, yoga studios, and recreation rooms.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This was not the case at this time last year, as the most recent <em>Luxury Market Report <\/em>from ILHM <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luxuryhomemarketing.com\/assets\/LMR_NorthAmerica.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">emphasizes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cExactly one year ago, we reported that demand for large properties, mega mansions, private estates, and luxury ranches had reduced significantly over the previous few years; especially from the younger generation of luxury property buyers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For today\u2019s buyers looking for larger homes, steady increases in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simplifyingthemarket.com\/2020\/09\/24\/home-equity-gives-sellers-options-in-todays-market\/?a=375140-ca8522ad04357da9549c08492a932f70\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">equity<\/a> might be what makes a move possible. Leveraging home equity makes it easier to afford the down payment on a luxury home, and current low interest rates are making mortgage payments more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simplifyingthemarket.com\/2020\/09\/22\/the-cost-of-a-home-is-far-more-important-than-the-price\/?a=375140-ca8522ad04357da9549c08492a932f70\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">affordable<\/a> than they have been in years.
